Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen and Hailee Steinfeld have been going strong as a couple for over a year now.

Initially, the two were hesitant to share their relationship with the world, though that has changed recently as they’ve taken to social media to shed some light on their love.

Steinfeld often talks about her relationship with Allen in her Beau Society newsletter, and in the latest edition, she recalled how during their first Christmas together they accidentally gifted each other with the same present.

The couple gifted each other similar knives, just in different colors. Steinfeld noted that Allen told her if the person receiving the knife as a gift doesn’t pay for it, it’s considered a bad omen.

“I got this knife for Josh last year for Christmas because cooking is something we love to do together,” said Steinfeld.

“For Christmas he got me…the same one in a different colorway! After we exchanged our knives lol, he told me there’s an old wive’s tale that if you gift your significant other a knife you have to pay for it, otherwise it signifies the severing of a relationship.”

In order to combat the bad omen, Steinfeld said the two symbolically paid for the knives by exchanging quarters.

“So we exchanged quarters so we didn’t have that bad omen. Anyway, oh my God, I love this knife! I don’t know much about a chef’s knife but it is just so nice and makes me feel official,” she said.

Along with their first Christmas together, Steinfeld also shared how she was secretly in attendance for the Bills’ season-opener against the Arizona Cardinals.

The Bills came out as 34-28 winners, with the actress stating she kept a low profile.

“Hi. The rumors are true. Football season is back which means a few things,” said Steinfeld. “A) I get to watch my favorite person continue to make NFL history every week. B) We’re just a few weeks away from drastic temperature drops where you’ll find me drinking hot chocolate bundled in vintage Bills gear.

“I spent most of the time game thinking about 1) how lucky I am to get a front-row seat to the magic that is JA17, the entire Bills team and the stadium energy. 2) The people who make up Bills Mafia are second to none.”
