Former Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Kelce recently opened up about a new rule in his household that has everyone feeling happier—especially his wife, Kylie Kelce. During a candid conversation on the Green Light with Chris Long podcast, the 36-year-old retired NFL center revealed that Kylie has implemented a non-negotiable fitness routine: he must work out at least three days a week, or else.
“Kylie made it clear—if I don’t get my workouts in, she doesn’t want to deal with me,” Jason admitted, chuckling. The reason behind this rule? A well-exercised Jason is a happier, more balanced Jason, and that’s something everyone in the Kelce household appreciates.
Jason, who shares three young daughters with Kylie—Wyatt, 4, Elliotte, 3, and Bennett, 16 months—explained how much his mood and overall well-being improve after he’s been active. “When I’ve worked out, I am in a great mood. I interact well with my kids and everybody… just I’m a better person,” he shared.
The conversation on the podcast, which aired on August 9th, delved into the challenges retired athletes face in maintaining their physical and mental health after stepping away from the game. Fellow former NFL players Chris Long and Brent Celek agreed that staying active is crucial. Long noted that exercise affects “dopamine” levels, which play a key role in how you feel and function each day.
Jason echoed these sentiments, admitting that on days when he skips his workout, he feels off. “If I miss a workout, it’s like I’m not really being productive for the day… like you’re missing something,” he said.
Despite his commitment to staying fit, Jason recently made the difficult decision to retire from professional football after the 2023-2024 NFL season. He shared that his body was signaling it was time to stop. “I don’t think I could play another season at the way I want to and the way that’s going to make me happy,” he said.
As the Kelce family transitions to life post-NFL, there’s speculation about whether they’ll expand their brood. Jason and Kylie, who tied the knot in 2018, have hinted at the possibility of a fourth child. While Jason playfully noted that the decision is ultimately up to Kylie, the couple is keeping an open mind about the future.
For now, Jason is focused on enjoying his time with his family and keeping up with his workout routine, all thanks to Kylie’s gentle, yet firm, encouragement.
