Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen says that only two athletes have ever made him nervous. The late Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant was one. On Sunday at the Genesis Invitational, Allen was able to meet the other—Tiger Woods.
After Woods put the final touches on a Sunday 73 at Riviera Country Club, he and Allen met, shook hands and had a brief exchange.
It’s not clear what Woods says to open the conversation, but you can then hear Allen say, “thank you so much.”
Once the conversation was over, Allen was interviewed and confessed that anytime Woods stands over a putt of significance, Allen feels his own heartbeat faster.
“A little starstruck, obviously,” Allen said.
“I’ll never forget it. I’m kind of speechless. That’s pretty cool.”
Earlier this month, Allen opted not to play in the NFL’s Pro Bowl game and instead competed in the pro-am portion of the AT&T Pebble Beach. He paired with Keith Mitchell and finished in fourth place, four shots behind Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Ben Silverman. Allen was in Mitchell’s gallery Sunday at Riviera, watching his partner shoot 70 to finish in fifth place.
