Mitch Trubisky’s two biggest fans were on-hand Sunday for the quarterback’s dominant performance in the Steelers’ preseason finale.
Trubisky’s wife, Hillary, and the couple’s newborn son, Hudson, watched the quarterback from a suite at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, where he completed 15 of 19 attempts for 160 yards and a touchdown in the Steelers’ 19-9 win against the Detroit Lions.
Though the Steelers have not yet named their Week 1 starter, Trubisky — who signed a two-year deal with the team in March — made a compelling case for the job after wrapping up the preseason by throwing for 283 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions.
The former Bears quarterback isn’t the only signal-caller who has been impressing throughout the preseason, though. Rookie Kenny Pickett, the team’s first-round selection out of Pittsburgh, threw for 90 yards on Sunday, completing 10 of 14 passes.
The 28-year-old Trubisky spent last season backing up Josh Allen on the Bills. Prior to that, he started in 50 games over the course of four seasons with the Bears, who traded up to select him second overall in the 2017 NFL Draft.
The Bears went 29-21 in games started by Trubisky during his four seasons with the team.
